So based on that last post, I think it is becoming apparent that certain kinds of sites will be more amenable to offering ‘value added’ advertisements than others… and hence can more reasonably rely on advertising revenue than others.
Youtube is halfway there, because if you search for a video on ‘wake boarding‘ (surfing with a kite) then you will get ads for things like sunnies to wear during wake boarding. That’s close to being a ‘value add’ ad.
Music is much harder. If someone searches for ‘chill out dub’ …. what advert would be a value add? (a pipe retailer?)
