Apple half did it by using *nix based kernel under OSX …. but Apple is very closed. Rumour is that Google is doing a Goobuntu. Google understands user experience. If Goobuntu is for real then Linux is about to get a huge kick forward.
Opensource developers dont understand useability/user experience… shame.
Actually, Apple has a point about keeping everything closed. Becuase by keeping everything closed you have control over blocking out the ‘bad user experience’ software developped by opensource developers.
What linux needs is a useability evangelist that will inject ‘user experience intelligence’ into the open source community.
