researching good forum software and good wiki software

From my research, it seems these would be the top choices for forums:

  1. vBulletin ($160.00 or $85.00 for one year). I read lots of reports where people say once they have used this forum, they never go back to the other ones. Less maintenance, more features, professional grade, more secure than the free ones.
  2. SMF. Apparently the best free forum, less maintenance than phpBB, but still requires some maintenance and can have security risks.
  3. Invision Power Board. An other good commercial forum. used by Yahoo (apparently).

Sounds like phpBB will require many hours of fiddling, maintenance, installing mods etc. .. and it has securty issues.  At $160, vBulleton would only have to save me several hours to be worth it.

And for Wikis:

  1.  MediaWiki

Why only one? … well, it sthe same Wiki software that wikipedia uses, so everyone will be familiar with the markup.
