I was just talking to a post-graduate colleague at the University of Wollongong, whose PhD thesis concerns the history of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, about how we tend to attempt to cast any new music we hear into a cultural sphere we are familiar with.

Anyway, on that note, here’s a work by Thomas Ades. Orchestral doof music. Its kinda got the dynamics of dance music with its ‘breaks’ and the good old ‘return to big rhythm’ as a resolution thing. Actually its quite funny.
